Established in 2004, the charity was successful in the introduction of a new chapter in the National Service Framework (NSF) for Coronary Heart Disease on Arrhythmias and Sudden Cardiac Death. Trudie was a member of the expert group engaged by the Department of Health to produce the first significant healthcare document specifically addressing arrhythmia services. She is instrumental in the development of A-A National Partners throughout Europe, America and Asia, and spearheaded the first international awareness event, World Heart Rhythm Week, supported by the World Society of Arrhythmias. Trudie has written papers and a chapter on syncope and arrhythmias as well as being a member of several research projects. S Jamal Mustafa is the Professor of Physiology and Pharmacology at West Virginia University (WVU). He has received Dean’s Award for Excellence in Research from SOM in 2008 and became a Robert C. Byrd Professor in 2010 and received Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Achievement in Research and Scholarly Activities from HSC, in 2013. He has also published over 200 manuscripts. His past work has led to the approval of an A2A selective AR agonist (Lexican®) for myocardial perfusion imaging. Currently, he is using AR and β adrenergic receptor KOs to better understand the relationship between these receptors in coronary flow regulation.

HK Chopra, a cardiologist working with Moolchand Medcity was elected unanimously as a ‘President of Cardiological Society of India’ at Hyderabad. Chopra said that his mandate in 2015 is to enhance awareness about hypertension, heart attacks and obesity. He also said that he will focus on developing technology in interventional cardiology in India and enhance awareness about timely intake of effective heart protective pill for Indians. He also said that lifestyle optimisation through alliance with governmental and non-governmental organisations and prevention of risk factors will help prevent heart attack in India below the age of 70. He emphasised that ‘Healthy Heart India is Fit India’.
