Jawahar L. Mehta is a Director, Molecular cardiology and Professor of Medicine and Physiology and Biophysics at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Little Rock, AR. He is member of prestigious organizations like ASCI and AAP, and received numerous awards-such as the International Pericle d’Oro Prize from University Magna Graecia of Catanzaro, Distinguished Fellow of the International Academy of Cardiology and the Dean’s Distinguished Scholar Award. He founded and is Director of the Cardiac Electrophysiology Program at the Children's Hospital of Michigan and Professor of Pediatric Medicine, Wayne State University School of Medicine (Detroit). He has published over 200 scientific papers, textbook chapters and textbooks typically in the field of cardiac electrophysiology, pacing and heart failure management both in children and adults with congenital heart disease, and is on the editorial staff of several internationally-recognized medical journals.

James T. Willerson, MD, FACC, is the President, Director of Cardiology Research, and Co-Director of the Cullen Cardiovascular Research Laboratories at the Texas Heart® Institute (THI) at CHI St. Luke’s Health-Baylor St. Luke’s. He served as President of The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston from 2001-2008, and he recently retired as the Edward Randall III Professor of Internal Medicine at The UT Medical School at Houston. He holds the Dunn Chair in Cardiology Research at THI, the Willerson/O'Quinn Chair at THI, the James T. Willerson, MD Distinguished Chair in Cardiovascular Diseases at UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, and has a swimming scholarship named in his honor at The University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Lerakis is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology at Emory University School of Medicine. He is also a Professor of Radiology and Imaging Sciences at Emory University. He is an Adjunct Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology and Emory University. Dr. Lerakis is the Director of Interventional Echo and Cardiac MRI at Emory University Hospital and Emory Clinic. He received his M.D. degree from the Medical School of Athens (Greece) in 1988. He continued on doing clinical research in Nuclear Cardiology atMount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. Subsequently, he did his Internal Medicine training at the Presbyterian Medical Center, University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia from 1991 to 1994 and completed his Fellowship in Critical Care Medicine at Brown University from 1994 to 1995. He went on to complete his Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas from 1995 to 1998 and then did one year of Echocardiography Fellowship at Emory University from 1998 to 1999. After his Echocardiography Fellowship, he has stayed on as Faculty in the Division of Cardiology practicing clinical and non-invasive cardiology.

Mic Gunderson is the National Director for Clinical Systems in the Quality and Health Information Technology Division of the American Heart Association. Among his previous positions, Mic served as National Director for Quality, Education and Research with the Rural/Metro Corporation; Director of Research and Education with the Office of the Medical Director in the Pinellas County, Florida EMS system; and as a Research Associate in the Department of Surgery at the University of South Florida College of Medicine. Mic has authored multiple journal articles, textbook chapters, texts, and has been an editor and editorial board member for several academic journals.

Antonio Coca is Professor of Internal Medicine, Senior Consultant, and Chief of the Hypertension and Vascular Risk Unit at the Hospital Clinic, School of Medicine, University of Barcelona, Spain. He obtained both his MD and his PhD from the University of Barcelona School of Medicine, Spain. He has previously served as Research Associate Professor at the Laboratory of Cardiovascular Physiology and Pharmacology (INSERM, CNRS, Necker Hospital, Paris, France). Professor Coca is Past President of the Spanish Society of Hypertension, honorary member of the Latin American Society of Hypertension, the Argentinian Society of Hypertension, the Venezuelan Society of Hypertension, and the Portuguese Society of Hypertension, Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London, and Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology. In 2007 he was elected member of the Scientific Council of the European Society of Hypertension, serving currently as “Executive-Officer” responsible for relationships with Latin America. He is the Chair of the Council on Hypertension of the European Society of Cardiology since 2014, and Chair of the Working Group of Hypertension and the Brain of the European Society of Hypertension since 2013. Professor Coca has been the recipient of many research grants from Spanish research institutes, scientific societies and the pharmaceutical industry from 1982 to the present. He is Editor or co-Editor of 58 books on various topics within the field of hypertension. He has published more than 320 papers in peer-review international journals and has presented more than 380 invited lectures at international and national meetings and universities. He has been member of the steering committee, as well as the Spanish coordinator, of several large-scale international trials in hypertension.

Professor Filippo Crea graduated from Pisa Medical School with full honours in 1977 and passed the Postgraduate Boards in both Pulmonary and Cardiovascular Diseases, again with full honours, at Pisa Medical School in 1980 and 1983 respectively. He is Director of the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences and Director of the Postgraduate School in Cardiology at the Catholic University in Rome. He is author of more than 700 publications on peer reviewed journals. Marco Picichè (MD, Ph.D.) graduated with a degree in medicine in Florence in 1995 and completed his cardiac surgery residency in Rome in 2000. He earned his research master in Surgical Science (Paris, 2007), and a university diploma in vascular surgery (Paris, 2007). In 2009 he opened the 44th Congress of the European Society for Surgical Research. He has written many publications and worked as a guest reviewer for many international leading journals. He is a member of the Editorial Board of several English language Journals. He received a doctor of philosophy (Ph.D.) in Paris. He is the Editor in Chief of the multi-author book "Dawn and Evolution of Cardiac procedures-Research Avenues in cardiac Surgery and Interventiontional cardiology" (Springer Verlag 2012). Currently he is a cardiac surgeon in Rome.

Frank J. Veith, Professor of Surgery, NYU and the Cleveland Clinic and Liebig Chair in Vascular Surgery. Dr. Veith graduated from Cornell University Medical College with Honors before completing his surgical residency training at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Thereafter, he achieved success with his pioneering work in experimental and clinical lung transplantation. In the 70s and 80s, his attention turned toward Vascular Surgery with an emphasis on lower extremity revascularization procedures, many of which he innovated. He was the first to advocate an aggressive approach to saving limbs threatened by arteriosclerosis and gangrene when most patients with this problem were being treated by a major amputation. He and his group were recognized as world leaders in this field and had more than 300 published articles related to it. In the early 1990s, Dr. Veith, long an advocate of endovascular treatments, became involved with endovascular grafts, using them for a variety of vascular lesions. Many of these procedures he and his associates performed were “firsts”. His group was the first to perform an endovascular graft repair of an AAA or EVAR in the US. They also performed the first EVAR for a ruptured AAA. In 1995 he was elected President of the Society for Vascular Surgery and was a major force promoting the endovascular treatment of many vascular diseases. Dr. Veith held positions as Chief of Vascular Surgery and Chairman of Surgery at Montefiore Hospital - Albert Einstein College of Medicine for many years. He was also The William J. von Liebig Chair in Vascular Surgery. In 2006, Dr. Veith was appointed to his present positions at New York University and the Cleveland Clinic. He has received numerous awards and honors as a leader, outstanding teacher and innovator in Vascular Surgery. He chairs the largest Vascular meeting, the VEITH symposium, held annually in New York City and now in its 43rd year. In 2010, Dr. Veith received the SVS Distinguished Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2013 an endowed chair, the Frank J. Veith Chair in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, was established at Langone New York University Medical Center. In 2016 Dr. Veith will be honored to receive the ISET Lifetime Achievement Award.

Jose Antonio F. Ramires has completed his Ph.D. at the age of 31 years from University of São Paulo (USP) Medical School. He was the Director of the Heart Institute-INCOR of the University of São Paulo where is Head Professor of Cardiology. He was President of the Council to evaluate all the University Professor at USP. He was President of the undergraduate Committee of USP Medical School. He has published more than 475 papers in reputed journals and has been serving as an editorial board member of repute. He was President of the Society of Cardiology of the State of São Paulo, Brazilian Heart Foundation and of the Brazilian Society of Cardiology.

Massimo Santini is the Director of Regional Center for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Cardiac Arrhythmias from 2013, he has been the Director of the Department of Cardiovascular Diseases , Hospital San Filippo Blacks , Rome ( 2001 - 2014 ) and also Director of the Division of Cardiology , Hospital San Filippo Blacks , Rome (1992 - 2014 ). He got Grand Officer of the Italian Republic Golden Plate of the Ministry of Health, Golden Plate ANMCO (Association of Hospital Cardiologists) and Silver Plaque AIAC (Italian Association of Arrhythmia and Cardiac).

His research interest lies in invasive and non-invasive treatment of atrial fibrillation. And also currently doing research in the prevalence of genetic abnormalities in Roman teenagers. His research also lies in cardiac rhythm, arrhythmia. He also performed the first fulguration of the atrioventricular node of resistant supraventricular tachycardia in Italy.

Dr Avanzas graduated in Medicine at Universidad de Navarra, Pamplona, Spain. He completed Senior House Officer posts and registrar training in Cardiology at Gregorio Marañón Hospital in Madrid, Spain. He took up a Spanish Heart Foundation Research Fellowship at Coronary Artery Research Unit, St. George´s Hospital Medical School in London and some months after that he was appointed as Associate Research Investigator of the Cardiovascular Biology Research Centre at St. George´s Hospital in London. He was also appointed as Consultant Cardiologist in Gregorio Marañón Hospital, Madrid, Spain and he also took up an Interventional Cardiology Fellowship in Hospital Universitario Central de Asturias, Oviedo, Spain. He is now Consultant in Invasive Cardiology in this Hospital. His major interests currently are in the field of coronary artery disease and inflammation, markers of myocardial ischemia and interventional cardiology, particularly antiplatelet therapies and percutaneous valve replacement. He is Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (working groups: Atherosclerosis, European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions and Acute Cardiovascular Care Association) and member of European Society of Atherosclerosis, International Society of Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy (Spanish Gobernor and WEB editor), Spanish Society of Cardiology and several regional cardiac societies. Dr Avanzas is author of more than 170 peer-reviewed articles and invited contributions (h-index=19) and Associate Editor of Revista Española de Cardiología (IF:3.3), Heart India and Bio Med Research International (IF: 2,7). He belongs to several scientific journal Editorial Boards (American Journal of Cardiology, World Journal of Translational Medicine, ISRN Cardiology, BioMed Research International, World Journal of Meta-Analysis, Advances in Medicine…). He is a frequent reviewer of more than 30 Cardiology journals and is also involved in teaching medical students and postgraduate teaching.
